RG 58 C/U
Construction and cross-section
RG 58 C/U is a thin coaxial cable with a characteristic impedance of 50 ohms: a center conductor of stranded tinned copper, a solid dielectric, a braided shield of tinned copper and a black jacket.

Every cable is the answer to a task.
Layer by layer, to scale.
Short radio-frequency connections at 50 ohms, for example in radio, test and laboratory equipment. The thin construction makes the cable flexible; for long runs and high power, thicker types such as RG 213 are used.

That leaves the question of what the jacket says.
What the name says.
“RG” stands for “Radio Guide” and comes from a US military designation system for radio-frequency cables. The number is a serial number: it says nothing about diameter or characteristic impedance. A letter after the number marks a version of the type, and the suffix “/U” marks general use.
RG 58 C/U has a stranded center conductor.
Sources and assumptions
No datasheet was available for this type. The dimensions are the usual ones for RG 58 C/U and are therefore marked as assumed. The number of wires and the lay length of the braid were chosen from a reference picture.
